 Mini-Challenge for Sunday – To A Mouse…

Where we were asked to write Burns Stanza, or Standard Habbie: Robert Burns created a form whereas the first three lines rhyme with the fifth. The fourth and sixth lines become the second rhyming pair. The pattern is thus:

x x x x x x x a
x x x x x x x a
x x x x x x x a
x x x x x b
x x x x x x x a
x x x x x b

your mark

indulge yourself
knock me down
beast-like

your mark
has no fortitude
for i am sunlight and wind

dissipate
with the rage

Tuesday ~ Writing Challenge Two

Where you were supposed to: Create a conversation between a person and his / her sub-ordinate about living in one’s shadow. I think this piece can be interpreted that way.

waving the purple flag

Purple Paw Flags

waving the purple flag

each earthly state will happen to fly
a purple flag of an arbitrary citizen
‘tis a game of troubling dreams
whence one un-lucky year lags
behind its forerunner

The purple flag is purple because one of the words on the wordle list was purple. I was looking online for a purple flag and found the Clemson University Flag. I loved it because it had a paw on it, which means animal lover, in the ANIPAL world. I am learning how to use illustrator, and I wanted more than one flag, so I made this little artwork myself. Nothing spectacular, but it’s the first step in learning how to use the tool.

Inkpot

Inkpot

Inkpot

in the pink inkpot
she opted not to drop
the pen tip to the top
instead, pointed
a pin into a pint
of knotted pinto beans
calculating pi ’til
the poi get eaten by the pit
and the silly pig snorts “oink”
while nipped during a deep kip

One Single Impression – Prompt 199: Inkpot

What I did to write this was go to         –  Scrabble Word Finder  Where they had a list of the anagrammed words made of Inkpot, and I just messed with the words to get this silly poem.

I’m just starting to learn how to use Illustrator.

crossroads of a thousand trees

Crossroads After a Night of Rain

crossroads of a thousand trees

crossroads of a thousand trees
where books reverberate
and latent energy
produces armor in a furnace

better to keep intuition
where the body has no role
so your mind is in your mouth
and your weapon rests below your hip

overshadowed
challenged by filtrated light
faulty enough to convey meaning
through the meandering boughs

intervention:
listening to the familiar
torture:
converted revolution

dead scent of fate
tired and disappointed
standing
in the crossroads of the trees

Fly Back

Coming Home

Fly Back

all is repossessed
commitments suspended
paradox achieved

floating in circles
triple decker ice cream cones
singular nourishment

hallucinations justified
contrived vocabulary
discombobulation

a juncture to be relived
but the towers will never
fly back

Planning To Back Limerick

Cracked Broken Hard Drive

Planning To Back Limerick

A programmer was planning to back,
His data up in an old school style rack.
The CPU broke.
Then it let out some smoke.
Now the hard drive’s got some nasty big crack.

Astronaut Up High Limerick

Space Picture by Ilya Benkin

Astronaut Up High Limerick

An astronaut was terribly high
She was floating around in the sky
She saw a light appear
In the shape of a spear
It’s an object they can’t identify!
