Qi

Cosmic Spider Web

Qi

cosmic continuum
fatidical formation
ductile decussation
practiced prototype
coronal cradle
familiar fractal
aboriginal amulet
omnipresent ornament

bewitching biology

Meeting The Bar: A Martian sharpens his knife

We were supposed to, “Come up with the unexpected metaphor, present the alien vision.” I chose to use this great picture, which is energy, and captures energy. All of energy is one, including biological energy. Qi is biological energy. A spider web captures sustaining life for the spider to eat, and it’s all a cycle of energy. That’s my metaphor. The environment is as alien as it gets.

About zongrik

For those of you who do not know the handle "zongrik," that would be Bat-Ami Gordin. Most people call me "Tammy." Bat-Ami means "daughter of my nation" in Hebrew. It's a heavy name to carry around. I answer to either name. I also answer to "mama." Some Basic Things about me: Animal lover, mom, poet/writer, dramatic soprano, photographer, teacher/tutor, CERT/Technician and, oh yeah, aerospace engineer. I consider myself "The Astro-Poet." To learn more about the origins of the word "zongrik" see whats-a-zongrik?

  1. Interesting take on the Martian technique – and thanks for the note explaining your thought processes, it’s always interesting to see how the creative mind works.

  2. this deserves to be read aloud – the words just roll off the tongue – Martian or otherwise – wow!

  3. I’m a sucker for the simple stuff, so I fell for this, hook, line and sinker. Seriously – seriously good.

  4. Lovely whirling sounds. k.

  5. the cosmic spider web is pretty amazing….i like your thought process in this too, nature is full of metaphor

  6. i will need some time and exercise until i’m able to pronounce this properly…smiles..nice…

  7. I love short poems that are packed with interesting descriptions and meaning. These are my favorites:

    “practiced prototype”
    “aboriginal amulet”
    “insatiable intensity”
    “bewitching biology”

  8. “aboriginal amulet.” That’s incredibly cool.

  9. Tight poem – you do in so few what it takes others so much more. It is all energy – where do you think energy goes after death. I’d be interested to know. I like this. It’s musical and modern. Excellent.

  10. You got me running to my dictionary again, fortunately not as alien to me as some might think! Is the cosmos adjectives and nouns? The contraposition of the words build to an interesting crescendo that convey the vying forces keeping this zone of biological energy abuzz.

  11. Beautiful cadences in this poem – enjoyed reading it very much
