goodbye becomes tomorrow

Nurse Adjusting IV

goodbye becomes tomorrow

in the corner of my galaxy
i am officially
a narcissist
goodbye becomes tomorrow
today warm hands
touch the nurse

truth howls
silent wind
IV pumps beep
autosuggestion for change
all has weight
even expressions
of the sleeping

emotionally hamstrung
out of denial
realisation:
second chance
belongs to
privileged

Live in the Moment–dVerse Meeting the Bar

This was prompted by  Victoria C. Slotto who asked to take “the challenge to be totally alive in the present and write to our perceptions.” Since I’m getting my monthly arthritis treatment at the cancer center (I don’t have cancer) I came up with this poem. This is my now, right now. I’m surrounded by cancer patients and i have two perceptions a) when people have cancer they become narcissists, and rightfully so b) it’s a privilege to get a second chance, which our affluent society let us get I am writing this from UCLA, the view is of the Ronald Regan Hospital, and what can be more of a view of affluent medicine

Pet Waste Dispenser Limerick

Dog Waste Bags in Pasadena

 Pet Waste Dispenser Limerick

A town that did not like dog waste
wanted folks to clean  up post-haste.
They installed free poop sacks
on conspicuous racks.
Now their streets are prim, proper and chaste.

POLE PHOTOGRAPHY AUSTRALIA – MINDI BURJI

stripper limerick

a city that wasn’t uptight
had strippers just dancing all night
one danced with a pole
revealing her mole
’cause her g-string was on way too tight.

sunset tunnel

Bridge

sunset tunnel

end of world
planned pre-extinction
puzzled driver won’t return

no more ginger-filled
usual morning cup
postponed indefinitely

tears burned
evening light
white-fronted entryways

pleasure
slowly spilling
down ragging river

stretched pathway
leads to invariable demise
sunset tunnel

brooding mare limerick

Horse Bucking

brooding mare limerick

a mare I owned tended to brood
whenever she had to get shooed
she kicked, bucked and fussed
the farrier just cussed
as she trotted to eat up her food

once upon a polar bear

Polar bears are facing a bleak future as Arctic icebergs continue to melt and ancient shelfs of ice collapse

once upon a polar bear

once upon a time
i had a cheerful birsong
now a smoldering shadow

children vivaciously skated
up and down the city streets
parents: no worries

riding trains to work, daily
reading, meditating
taking naps

elevator loudspeaker
Spanish guitar melodies
tapped and rapped

poets heartily sang woes of
Elizabethan melancholy
not depression

plates of frozen landscape
dared not melt
into the dirty ocean
