for the thousandth time

Friendship by rebela-wanted

for the thousandth time

for the thousandth time
you burst in without knocking
(it’s permanently open to you.)
I sniff the spirit
that signals your presence
(an experience one never forgets.)

who else could mitigate?
conterminous affairs, alleviated;
exposed to your core, renovated.
stronger, we camouflage indifferences,
and prevent piercing yelps
from penetrating some phony smile.

long conversations,
sometimes called debates
(yelling like fireworks.)
from outside, a facade —
they might call it abuse
(it’s a form of obedient respect.)

together we start a candy bar.
sobriety, in our minds.
no need for questions
to answers well known.
dispensing honor. beaming pride —
behind childish laughter.

About zongrik

For those of you who do not know the handle "zongrik," that would be Bat-Ami Gordin. Most people call me "Tammy." Bat-Ami means "daughter of my nation" in Hebrew. It's a heavy name to carry around. I answer to either name. I also answer to "mama." Some Basic Things about me: Animal lover, mom, poet/writer, dramatic soprano, photographer, teacher/tutor, CERT/Technician and, oh yeah, aerospace engineer. I consider myself "The Astro-Poet." To learn more about the origins of the word "zongrik" see whats-a-zongrik?

  1. there is much between the lines in this one….the spirits…the restraint in the second line behind smiles…obedient respect or abuse…the last stanza feels a relief to me as well…
