Portrait of Ido
Happy New Year folks!!! The number 16 is a great: wonderful age; perfect square; and its own binary number. A cool number on so many levels. But 2016 is not 16. 2016 sucked.
For those of you who liked my poetry blog, sorry. If it’s any consolation, I haven’t been writing anything. I have been doing photography. For real. If you don’t believe me check out my instagram page. So, to keep my blog going, I have decided to try to do one portrait a day, for a year. YIKES!! Don’t know if I can do it, but I can try. [Yoda: Do. Or do not. There is no try.] If I achieve this, I will learn more than I can imagine at this point in time.
I went out shooting New Years Eve, having no idea who I would find, and I found Ido, a Motorcross rider, at AV Motoplex Motocross Ride Park. I have seen this facility off the CA-14 every time I pass. This was the first time I ventured out there.
Ido is Israeli and originally from Holon, a city on the central of the Mediterranean coast, south of Tel Aviv. He now lives in Redondo Beach, California, USA.
Ido has been doing Motocross for five years and his Dad comes along to help with his equipment. Ido also rides with a few friends, Israelis that he met in the LA area. I would have asked him more about himself, but he wanted to get on his bike and ride.
What I like about this portrait is that due to the muscles around his eyes and eyebrows, you can see his grin without seeing his mouth.
I’m not always going to add extra pictures, but I thought Ido (1) cleaning his bike (2) sitting on his bike and (3) loading up on potassium-saturated carbs were interesting shots.
