Portrait of Xander

I met Xander at Pets R Us in Palmdale, CA, USA; he was going to transport a dog I rescued down to Orange County, CA, USA. This was the first time I had met Xander. I had been in rescue for well over 5 years, and I found Xander professional and wonderful as a rescuer.

Xander worked with the ASPCA in LA County, CA USA, and did transport for various rescues. He also had his own rescue,  Rescue Mafia LA. As of this post, they were working on their 501(c)3. I wished them luck on that. It’s hard to get.

Xander was single, and lived with his dogs, Ariel, an 11 year old long-haired Chihuahua, Shadow, a5 year old German Shepard and  Kicki a short haired black domestic cat, the baby of the house.

On the picture, his hat says “Dog Father” which reminded me of the joke “What did the dyslexic, atheist insomniac do?” He stayed up all night wondering if there was a  Dog.

What was Xander looking at? Maybe he was contemplating the universe, thinking how horribly people treat animals, or just annoyed at me for making him take so many poses.

About zongrik

For those of you who do not know the handle "zongrik," that would be Bat-Ami Gordin. Most people call me "Tammy." Bat-Ami means "daughter of my nation" in Hebrew. It's a heavy name to carry around. I answer to either name. I also answer to "mama." Some Basic Things about me: Animal lover, mom, poet/writer, dramatic soprano, photographer, teacher/tutor, CERT/Technician and, oh yeah, aerospace engineer. I consider myself "The Astro-Poet."
