Portrait of Greg-2

Greg was the owner of Voodoo Vinyl New and Used Records which was a “newer used record store” with guitars, 33’s, 45’s, and clothing. It was “a piece of the past.” Voodo Vinyl was located in Lancaster, California, USA on The Blvd.

“It was a lifelong dream to open a store like this,” Greg stated. “I was collecting records for 35 years. Music has always been my life.”

I asked Greg to pick two albums so he could pose with them. When he showed me the albums, I was enthralled because  Let It Be  was my favorite album, ever.  It was like he read my mind.

Greg chose those two albums because Let It Be was made by  The Beatles, “the greatest rock band ever” and he thought that was perfect. The other album was Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables  which was “a perfect punk style record by the  Dead Kennedys.”

About zongrik

For those of you who do not know the handle "zongrik," that would be Bat-Ami Gordin. Most people call me "Tammy." Bat-Ami means "daughter of my nation" in Hebrew. It's a heavy name to carry around. I answer to either name. I also answer to "mama." Some Basic Things about me: Animal lover, mom, poet/writer, dramatic soprano, photographer, teacher/tutor, CERT/Technician and, oh yeah, aerospace engineer. I consider myself "The Astro-Poet." 1. Excellent portrait and write up on Greg we share the same passion for the old albums. I myself could not see mine because they mean to much to me.

  2. Long time ago…we got rid of all our vinyl…. for which we now are very very very sorry
Lately I occassionaly buy a ‘new’ one… on garagesales etc

  3. Fun pic. Thought NOT my favorite Beatles album.

  4. Neat photo for G ~ don’t miss my ‘vinyl’ ~ trying to simplify ~ ^_^

  5. Love a browse through vinyl so that box behind him was intriguing.

  6. There are days when the Husband and I regret that we hadn’t got rid of our album collections. Sigh.

  7. I still have my old records…just nothing to play them on! One of these days I want to hear Richard Chamberlain sing again. In my younger days I had a huge crush on him and have what was probably his one and only album. I watched Dr. Kildare regularly. I just googled and he’s 83!

  8. I love the Beatles~ but I’m not much into vinyl or CD’s — it’s all digital now.
