to enslave with domestication

it is always superficial, caused by humans without gumption.
their hearts are frozen. their dysfunctionality, contagious.
i am preoccupied with difficulties. the air is too cold.
with temerity i shiver. the communal sun radiates not on me.

a treasure from my mother might be a memory of times past.
it’s a species thing. natural. days of wretched misery.
hours of dolorous suffering. i am stabbed by unblunted thorns.
calluses form as if I were to transmute into an uncultivated cactus.

i question the distress in the experience of humanity:
to savor. to self-reflect. to engage in life with exactitude.
to appraise with attitude. to enslave with domestication.
i stare with solemnity, “is protection around the corner?”

Drunken Driving Limerick

Most intoxicated drivers have a false sense of security, since alcohol eliminates people’s inhibitions, they never think they will cause an accident or actually be arrested. Many don’t even realize they are drunk when they get behind the wheel; it takes just a few drinks to push someone over the legal limit.

Drunken Driving Limerick

Drunken driving will always impair
your perception of getting here or there.
It’s a big hullabaloo,
when a policeman stops you,
and you act like you’re walking on air.

Dance to the Moulin Rouge

Dance to the Moulin Rouge

summer breezes kiss her curls.
unlatched emotions — tension unfurled.
a sudden scuttle. she towers
to the middle of the floor —
music called her to gambol.

the men rubbernecking.
her dress plays it safely.
impulsive. exploitative.
pathetic ridicule and gossip.
chirps hum to merry prancing.

graceful butterfly. witch queen.
dance tornado. plastic sculpture.
dress variable in shape.
ribbons and skin so silky.
next, she’ll kick off those shoes.

Midnight Cowboy — A Quick Review

spoiler alert: it's not a happy ending

spoiler alert: it’s not a happy ending

Midnight Cowboy — A Quick Review

drawn to urban utopia,
world of other people’s affairs.
out of Texas, homegrown souls —
los hombres of loneliness.

man spree. textured long limbs.
ruddy, cocky, snap the tongue.
silly sod with stupid laugh.
unaffected country man.

he painted New York —
hypothetical trust.
that’s his style — innocence,
no matter how it’s tolerated.

kind friend or was it pity?
same disease phase; containment.
taste of humiliation and despair.
more rotten than downtown Bangkok.

whores to comfort women —
men more putrid than garbage .
stripped of cowboy costume.
(it’s not a happy ending.)

Upside Down Flying Limerick

At altitude that’s a little too high,
John flew upside down in the sky.
When the turbulence started,
He accidentally farted
“The dog did it,” said the pilot wise guy.

Balloons

Fancy HOV Ridin’

surrealistic existentialism
late afternoon commute,
coasting in the bike lane
looking for things to do.

careers, oh so different.
with certainty, city explored.
older people, not one younger
high school students on the run.

time to ransack bookstores.
(only for compilations)
published. renounced.
such was the plan.

in good company,
cheeky thinking.
regional network,
structured naturally.

professor emeritus,
familiar with his family tree.
full of universal correctness,
(worthy of a doubt or two.)

signed up for his book club.
costly find. challenged participation.
opinions: affected by social conditions:
unfavorable disregard for niceties.

night ride? without illumination?
front wheel off, bike fits in his trunk.
homeward in eco-ready, light-auto —
stratospheric high-flying-occupant-car-pooler.

The Language of Chocolate

Chocolate Drops

Chocolate Drops

The Language of Chocolate

Tear drops of chocolate smeared in my ear —
extraordinary, epicurian embraces
melt my eyeballs, dissolve blissfully,
tasty as they roll in my avaricious pockets,
auditory melting on the granite surfaced table.

I long to covet them with genitalia:
delusionary cure-all, clearly, an exacerbated desire.
Appreciated gourmet of flatulent aroma:
rejuvenate, tone, percolate pock scars — abounding,
left dry, to fight off ants, and terrify hungry bees.

Synesthesia–Sensory Confusion, or…?

Victoria C. Slotto prompts us to “…play around with mixing up those senses. It’s not necessary to write a complete poem in synesthesia, just include an incident in which you invite your readers to taste, or see, or hear, or touch, or smell something that defies the sense you are using.”

Sexy Hits the Streets

for cat

Sexy Hits the Streets

retro-ethnic, ultra-elaborated, seemingly fumbling.
stylized euro haut nerd, tantalizingly puzzling.
irritably snuggling. culture jammed juggling.
breaking every curfew; playing without struggling.

padded exterior, vegan interior.
hands in pockets, a screwed up sneer.
hiding high tech hardware; antiquated software:
hollow products marketed by deluded grandeur.

clam-shelling her cell phone, into a comma.
emerging from trauma, perpetual drama.
surrounded by lobotomized, inaccessible nirvanas.
never wears pajamas, has too many mamas.

she doesn’t need batteries, intrepid, bi-legged.
strolls nonchalantly on an invisible grid.
aqueously translucent, cloudless, pellucid.
butt-side down, with flippant, fetid method.

in-focus, sharp, progressive equation.
a-rhythmic, a-temporal: low level potation.
curated, moving art of bio-mass accretion.
inhalation, provocation, seductive-temptation.

nano-birthing chamber

Diamond Nanotubes

Diamond nanowires are prepared inside carbon nanotubes by thermal annealing of diamantane-4,9-dicarboxylic acid under a hydrogen atmosphere.

nano-birthing chamber

infant cables in birthing chamber, reflexively bump, identical in the tub.
spidery filament flips in one bound: challenge to other nanostructures.
lost, lacking choices: fate not faith. blink and groan. stare and moan.
fluid in full slosh mode, suckling in pulp. dimples. blobs. formations
at the site of development. protective effect confirmed, uncompromisingly.

in grey waves, they majestically spiral and peak. filaments fracture,
independently race ‘round centrifugal tubules. relentless rotation.
ripples pass. progeny of the populace. reasonless, irrationally irritating,
come to golden light, on silvery rivers: (calm in blue space.) rubble fills the void,
incinerating contamination. struggle. wind filled. (never enters the hole.)

bubbles crack, smack and rumble: toothlessly grind to rubbery pulp.
super-novae, many, many magnitudes smaller, a perplexing state
of isolation, in a venue where surface tension creates cacophony.
no human will hear their dialogues and screeches: design of creation.
not one nano-being will sensorially recollect this first experience.

rumbles and moils in distracting high frequency. tenuous tendrils.
temporal travesty. trickery. tunneling. and then tranquil connectively.
unfamiliar abstractions. unexpected measurements on the boundary.
patches are blank spots in their memory: a leak in techno-verse.
fiber of space-damaged, roughly, transformedly processed matter.

they share a common experience: crests of hyper length cosmological waves ―
but smaller in number, surrounded by dense mathematics. jerky gravitational
spin down, phase factor one, conjugated complexity, nestling intentions.
in the birth canal: globes, branches, ringlet-tubes and electron waves.
nano-baby cables percolate into birth. emergence. vitalization. actualization.
