melody becomes a young angel

Boredom by Kenia Cris

melody becomes a young angel

melody becomes a young angel
living in a secular world
dirty, opportunistic
soul in constant distress

majestic music, sorrowful
trembling amazingly
resting in the shady peace
of an earthly train yard

*****************

Today’s prompt, was to write a poem inspired by the art of  Kenia Cris over at Poesia Torta,

elephant slave

she is at my back
talking to my shoulder
bubbly in the morning
yet she mourns

bereaved family
lamentations
disaster
uncontrolled loss

yet the world
has lost its sorrow
and i am told
she will bounce back

tears will cease
with formula
and copious
vegetation

degradation
never forgets

cliffhanger

I Want to be Free

cliffhanger

engulfed
daredevil moon.
sneaky shadows.
sterile darkness.

forlorn
stormy sea eyes.
wild wind screams.
exuberant misplaced tears.

accommodated
recycled melodrama.
theatrical mesa.
fiery opus.

generously
recapitulated visions.
affected fatalism.
missing hangman.

primed to dance

"No performance is a perfect performance but some performances allow for the feeling of perfection. Achieving this moment of ecstasy easily validates all the pain and struggle of the art form by taking us (and possibly our audience) for a moment to a world beyond our own." - Wendy Whelan

A Natural History of My Princess Bedroom

Ceiling Sculpture in Princess Anne's Bedroom

A Natural History of My Princess Bedroom

much imperial drama and subsidy
to aggrandize the flashy feel
of a royal bedroom
curtains the color of the sky
ballroom sized
fluer de lys habitat
den of decadent fashion
museum it is not

splendidly exposed, prestigiously lavish
spirit of crystal alchemy
mirrors leading into new dimensions
the hub of a mediocre kingdom
ceiling sculptures
with hidden cameras
haven for personal protection
fit for a princess and a half

The assignment was  write a poem entitled “A Natural History of My (room)“, selecting whatever specific room you desired and given in a very personal sense. I chose to write about a princess’s bedroom. I do not have a princess’s bedroom. This is fiction.

loose collars

Yeoman Smith

loose collars

a cracked face caught in a laugh
looming in one hundred years of nocturnal love
the pictures were the attraction
we forgot to breath
as our fingers were extended

i love the taste of a miracle
and put it in the back of a soup
immersing it in status quo

i spent too much on energy
proliferating here and there
frustrated in the sweetest pain
extending fingers in melodic hum
at the door of ecstasy

the world expanded
when i loosened my collar
negligent criminals
betrayed their friends
and forgot to breathe

why celebrate the holidays

Cinderella Break

why celebrate the holidays

why celebrate the holidays
in a tree
when you can ride a pumpkin
and scuff  its pungent crust

why celebrate the holiday
with family
when you can sip ginger tea
while burning a cinnamon candle

why celebrate the holiday
and succumb to gravity
when you can pirouette on point
with the rat king

why celebrate the holiday
traveling by sea
when warm colored leaves
gamble their lives in the wind

why celebrate the holiday
in thoughtful study
when you can play with words
in creative fulfillment

 Mini-Challenge for Sunday – To A Mouse…

Where we were asked to write Burns Stanza, or Standard Habbie: Robert Burns created a form whereas the first three lines rhyme with the fifth. The fourth and sixth lines become the second rhyming pair. The pattern is thus:

x x x x x x x a
x x x x x x x a
x x x x x x x a
x x x x x b
x x x x x x x a
x x x x x b
