Jacob was a thirteen year old who wore braces, played baseball and rode a session scooter that belong to his brother. In fact, he rode it a lot more than his brother.
At school, Jacob’s favorite subject was lunch. He only liked three of his teachers, the ones that taught history, leadership and and language arts. I asked him what one learned in leadership class and he said, “how to be a leader.”
After his mother, aunt and I had a good laugh, I was able to ascertain that they specifically learned how to talk in front of big groups of people, how to make poster boards and how to master communication skills. Maybe the class should have been called communications. But that’s a California school district for you…At least, Jacob was able to maintain a sense of humor about it.
