Portrait of Cornelia

Cornelia attended California State University Bakersfield (CSUB), majoring in business and planning to work for corporate America as a human resource manager.

Cornelia’s previous work experience was as a receptionist. After looking online and discovering that human resources was one of the business fields, she decided this was what she wanted to do.

With experience working with people, and Cornelia knew she could interact with personnel and run a human resource department.

In this portrait, I caught Cornelia eating a snack and she said that that was just a classic pose for her.

Portrait of Russell-2

Russell was originally from San Fernando Valley but moved up to Antelope Valley, attended Antelope Valley High School, received his associate’s degree at Antelope Valley College, earned his undergraduate Communications degree at California State University Bakersfield (CSUB), Antelope Valley campus and at the time of this interview, was studying for a Masters of Science in Administration (MSA).

When Russell was studying Communications, he “didn’t really have any set goals” and was just trying to follow his instincts to see where he fit in the academic world. Russell explained that he was studying for an MSA, “to learn more about business.”

Russell also liked writing, both creative and research.

He was a night crew lead at Food 4 Less.

Portrait of Tika

Tika was a lab assistant at California State University Bakersfield (CSUB), Antelope Valley location, computer lab. She was studying for her Masters in Social Work (MSW) and her bachelor’s was in sociology, which she received at CSUB.

Tika was originally from Oakland, California, USA. She came to Antelope Valley for a change of scenery and to be with her grandchildren and children. She had “three grown children and 10 grandchildren, the ages of seventeen down to two.”

Tika definitely was studying to be in the right profession. While speaking to her, I found that she was very calming. Tika is going to be practicing in a profession where people are anywhere from extremely sad, to depressed, to screamingly angry, and everything in between.

I’m sure that as Tika proceeds with her career, people who are at their height of their emotions will appreciate her natural ability to make them chill and make them listen to the wise things she has to say.

Portrait of Michael-3

Michael was the (Information Technology) IT Consultant for California State University Bakersfield at the Antelope Valley College campus. He said that his title was, “a fancy way of saying I’m a geek…My multitude of obsessions include comics and role playing games, such as Dungeons & Dragons, which I’ve been playing that since the first edition, back in the seventies.”

StarWars was not Michael’s favorite, although he understood all Star Wars references I made. He did love A Song of Ice and Fire series and when Michael first started reading the series, he thought to himself, “Like, Yay. No one going on a random quest to save the universe or whatever…Don’t get attached cuz they’re going to die…That’s great.”

Michael believed A Song of Ice and Fire was a breath of fresh air after all the The Lord of the Rings Trilogy template/knockoff-type fantasy series, “And of course there’s all the political skulduggery, which makes it entertaining.”

Michael only watched Game of Thrones, the show, one season and was not impressed. I can only imagine what he would have thought of season seven. Let’s not talk about that.

Michael had various employees under him and he was a complete Tyrant. Please see his wanted poster below whence he seeks new work study employees. I’m kidding. He wasn’t a Tyrant at all. He was a really nice guy, laid back, with a sense of humor, and a humorous bulletin board.
