foam

Carina Nebula – from Hubble

foam

canned cream
at your mouth
in your face

fall flat air bubble fairies
toothlessly smiling
with balding hair
of baby similitude
like bellwort slobber
sputtering radioactive blood

cold,  solid steam
carbonated, chlorinated
fumigated, undulated
meta foam
like carpal fountains
of spread fingers

certified, personified,
versified foam
cools rage
quenches nightmares

smokeless frosting
delivered by messenger service
soothing, illimitable
universal soup of life

About zongrik

For those of you who do not know the handle "zongrik," that would be Bat-Ami Gordin. Most people call me "Tammy." Bat-Ami means "daughter of my nation" in Hebrew. It's a heavy name to carry around. I answer to either name. I also answer to "mama." Some Basic Things about me: Animal lover, mom, poet/writer, dramatic soprano, photographer, teacher/tutor, CERT/Technician and, oh yeah, aerospace engineer. I consider myself "The Astro-Poet." To learn more about the origins of the word "zongrik" see whats-a-zongrik?

  1. I think of this as Whipped cream rather than space cream!!!! But it definitely soothes people. k.

  2. I feel like having a foamy cappuccino all of a sudden. 🙂 Very nice write. Savoring the descriptions and sense from this as I read. I really like your poems on space and these amazing objects in space.

  3. I love photos of nebulae and this poem is spectacular, Tammy. If I’m understanding it correctly, this is a such a great metaphor for our Universe. I did a series of cosmic paintings a few years ago, focusing on nebulae.

  4. each pass through i get a little more, very nice layering for me to explore, thank you 😉

    esp liked,

    “versified foam
    cools rage
    quenches nightmares
    smokeless frosting”

  10. it def is cool to look at…you got some pretty cool description in there…and wicked flow as always…love the pic too

  11. A fun piece…yet giving me plenty of cosmic images to ponder…and yes to taste..

  12. may i call you the cosmic impressionist…? smiles.. you always take me to other spaces with your writing…literally..

  13. Really cool flow of words here, comes across nicely in the poem itself, but really comes to life in your reading, very cool.

  14. I love Claudia’s comment…love this line also “universal soup of life” Great piece!

  15. Wonderful to see the principles of impressionism transferred from gardens to space

  16. Dear friend,
A very interesting poem with a great photo. Thanks for sharing.

  17. This took me lots of places–it actually made me think of poetry being the foam, but I do love the photo, and I’m sure this relates to some cosmic attribute which I can enjoy without understanding.

  18. Choppy, mashed and purified by a (pro)sy barista…enjoyed your foamy poem♫♪

  19. Enchanted!
    I loved this stanza:

    fall flat air bubble fairies
    toothlessly smiling
    with balding hair
    of baby similitude
    like bellwort slobber
    sputtering radioactive blood

I loved the way you’ve used the metophors.

  20. What an amazing soup of imagery!

  21. It’s great to hear your voice! And the photo is brilliant! The poem goes well with it.
