abstract homo sapiens

Summer Night Albert Bloch 1913

abstract homo sapiens

abstract “homo sapiens,”
weather-beaten, ice-burned,
exhausted warlords,
hands of pure water.

sunk in an alternate world
each reacts differently:
neurasthenia, irritation,
anger, rage;
paralyzing stagnant anemia.

beyond excitation they
gather with beaded moonbeams,
encrusted with precious stones,
filled with similarly colored fluids.

into the eyes of shameful friends,
sharing bondage, telling tales.
blueberry juice on their skin.
isolated from autumnal craftsmen —
an out-of-society culture.

About zongrik

For those of you who do not know the handle "zongrik," that would be Bat-Ami Gordin. Most people call me "Tammy." Bat-Ami means "daughter of my nation" in Hebrew. It's a heavy name to carry around. I answer to either name. I also answer to "mama." Some Basic Things about me: Animal lover, mom, poet/writer, dramatic soprano, photographer, teacher/tutor, CERT/Technician and, oh yeah, aerospace engineer. I consider myself "The Astro-Poet." To learn more about the origins of the word "zongrik" see whats-a-zongrik?

  1. wow…an out of society culture…an interesting thought that….having had enough they may soon have a few join them…

  2. Ooooo, I love the other-worldly feel of this!

  3. The exhausted warlords made me think of the four elements… 🙂

  4. “hands of pure water.”

    That line just rings!

  5. I love S2, especially this part: “sunk in an alternate world
each reacts differently.” Excellent work, as always.

  6. That is some heap of aliments they have there… Lots of great images today.:)

  7. I like the different reactions…the out of culture world was a creative take on this prompt ~

  10. yes, I do believe it could be blueberry juice, what a wonderful idea! Very nice read!

  11. Perhaps they are the remnants of a failed evolution, left to haunt the fringes of our consciousness and dreams . Were we their animals once, ? , now its our turn to have a go and the issue is far from certain.

  12. Awesome poem 😀 I really love this 😀 Especially the complex scientific words 😀

  13. Ooooh, these figures are so other worldly, but you have left clues of a childlike sense of connectedness, with the moonbeams, the precious stones and the blueberry juice on one hand and more adult activities on the other. I love their pure water hands and I am sad about their neurasthenia. This is so creatively interesting, Zongkik. Thank you for sharing the close encounters, =D

  14. I like the blueberry juice…nice write…

  18. What a cool take on that artwork…love these alternative people that you describe…surreal yet similar to us in some aspects.

  19. Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog lately. I appreciate your feedback about word verification and have gotten rid of it in the meantime.

    You wrote great poems!

  20. Out of this rat race affair to where few dare, not a bad place to be I suppose as well, many may soon ring such a bell. And next week the cat finally uses the pic, came off rather slick.

  21. wow…who are we really, changlings moment by moment… beautiful poem.

  22. Really well done,Tammy so much to think about. Were all “sharing bondage and telling tales”!
