private dreamliner

Pelican

private dreamliner

retinas scanning
duskish horizon

shoulders stretch
airfoils grow

angles | changes
feathery at armpit

on his back
private dreamliner

conserving momentum
physical phenomena

catapult
to lift

updrafts
to sustain

yet to this fowl
it is but fishy

About zongrik

For those of you who do not know the handle "zongrik," that would be Bat-Ami Gordin. Most people call me "Tammy." Bat-Ami means "daughter of my nation" in Hebrew. It's a heavy name to carry around. I answer to either name. I also answer to "mama." Some Basic Things about me: Animal lover, mom, poet/writer, dramatic soprano, photographer, teacher/tutor, CERT/Technician and, oh yeah, aerospace engineer. I consider myself "The Astro-Poet." To learn more about the origins of the word "zongrik" see whats-a-zongrik?

  1. somehow this makes me wanna stretch my wings…and fly…if it would only work with shaved armpits as well..or do you think i should try and grow some feathers there…smiles…much enjoyed tammy

  2. ha…so much natural engineering in those fliers you know…i bet he is a bit fishy as well…that might be some indigestion from lunch…smiles….ha…it was worth it to read claudia’s comment as well…smiles….

  3. great capture of that moment to fly…..feathery armpit caught my attention ~

  4. This has such a lovely sense of humor! Thanks. K.

  5. I love the way your choice of words echoes the theme of physics. Concrete words like “armpit” and “retinas” coexist with lyrical words such as “feathery” and “dusk”. Such good balance! Bravo.

  6. I like the ending–but really, the whole piece is delightful and full of great imagery.

  7. this is far from fowl…..errr…foul

    Peace

  8. Very nice… oh the urge to fly would be indeed wonderful!

  9. Nice! Makes me want to spread my wings, too, if I had any…

  10. This was really cute. Fun to read, and yes I guess it does make me want to spread wings, even if it means I’d have to smell a little fishy. Nice write.

  11. You have captured that moment so well.

  12. I like this the way it’s slightly off-centre, coming from various angles. Well done.

  13. So many interesting angles on your picture. I like the word duskish as used here, and there feathered armpits.

  14. Even “free birds” have things to do. Loved this

  15. There’s that bit of humor again..I love the description of take-off…fishy or not. So cute!

  16. I can feel and visualize this poem! So ready to take off!

  17. Ah! You had me from “Dreamliner”!

  18. Perfect words for the image. I especially love the ending.

  19. love a poem that uses the word armpit! 🙂

  20. Gently humorous and paints a great picture, very nice 🙂

  21. I like it,the last is good….it`s all a bit fishy.
