Where Is the Food When Mother Is Not?

Yerka Jacek - Mind Fields Between Heaven and Hell

Yerka Jacek – Mind Fields Between Heaven and Hell

Where Is the Food When Mother Is Not?

Where is the food
when mother is not,
searching — plates and bowls
hit or miss? Open fridge.
Ransack cabinets.

I read a fairy tale,
that food grows ready:
creative cuisine,
not difficult to get:
a hundred people —
a hundred eggs.

Without Mom, a sudden collapses?
Everywhere needs an eye —
Or the glassware might fall:
a place to cry
a place to laugh.

Here’s Mom.
The harvest
we will collect.
Enthusiastic cheers.
The smell goes down the hall.

I shall help.
Always help.
Help in the kitchen.

Yes, Mom is back.
Heat up the pot.
No more stale, old
Piss-water tea.
Take a broom and dustpan.
Sweep up confusion.

The cold kitchen
will soon be warm.

Journey With A New Friend

Wilde Beast Bumping Heads

Wilde Beast Bumping Heads

Journey With A New Friend

Each new friend speaks a new language.
Unique histories to share.
So much to say, it’s a traffic stall.

Rare books of knowledge.
Scriptures delineating a process.
Each new friend speaks a new language.

Shared representations?
A journey that is just introduced?
Unique histories to share.

Wilde beast bumping heads
on a prehistoric plain.
So much to say, it’s a traffic stall.

Today’s challenge was to write Chained verse which links together stanzas by carrying a rhyme over from one stanza to the next.

This simply means that you use a rhyme scheme which repeats a rhyme from one stanza in the succeeding stanzas, in this case a pattern of:
a-b-c
d-e-a
f-g-b
h-i-c

for the thousandth time

Friendship by rebela-wanted

for the thousandth time

for the thousandth time
you burst in without knocking
(it’s permanently open to you.)
I sniff the spirit
that signals your presence
(an experience one never forgets.)

who else could mitigate?
conterminous affairs, alleviated;
exposed to your core, renovated.
stronger, we camouflage indifferences,
and prevent piercing yelps
from penetrating some phony smile.

long conversations,
sometimes called debates
(yelling like fireworks.)
from outside, a facade —
they might call it abuse
(it’s a form of obedient respect.)

together we start a candy bar.
sobriety, in our minds.
no need for questions
to answers well known.
dispensing honor. beaming pride —
behind childish laughter.

Prince Contemplating What to Do Next Regarding Glass Slipper

Cinderella Limerick

A prince stepped out into the hall.
he was leaving a very big ball.
He carried her slipper
that fell when he tripped her.
To return it, he must not forestall.

In the face of oppression the Olympic torch is carried through Britain alongside a Pit Bull. Maybe one day BSL will be lifted there and sights like this won’t be extraordinary.

Sonnet 24

Cloud Formations

Pilots are inexorably tied to weather. Under certain conditions, it would be certainly hazardous to fly. One day, when I was working at Edwards, one of my pilots was standing and staring at the weather. I stopped to watch him. It was so organic. His entire being was going up there, and he wanted to understand it, that day, to it’s fullest. The weather report would not be enough. Like a businessman reading the file on a prospective client, like an HR person reading about a prospective hiree, a farmer looking to see if it’s time to plant and of course, a sailor wondering where the prevailing winds will take him.

Sonnet XXIV

Just remember, if you crash because of weather, your funeral will be held on a sunny day. – Layton A. Bennett

You stood there and gauged the patterns of air,
the clouds and the turbulence. Yet, the wind,
not robust enough to tousle your hair,
was able to make clarity rescind.
To and fro your eyes scanned the perilous
landscape. In your mind, a scenario
evolved, with way too many mischievous
heroics to feed your growing ego.
Then you pitched up into the nasty sky
as if you were controlling the weather.
Regardless of the conditions up high,
you would return on wing without feather.
Thus, as each day goes by in your young life,
you reappear to your offsprings and wife.

X is For (Xcor)

This week, I was fortunate enough to attend the Space Craft Technology Expo at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

I went on a Press pass because I have a column on Nanotechnology now (see the right side of my page, there’s a link.) My column is writing poetry. XCOR had an interesting of their suborbital spacecraft. I want one. But you can buy a ride into orbit. Check out their website. It’s amazing that you can get into space now, and not be a superman astronaut. The spacecraft can be sued for payloads and experiments too, not just space travel. Seriously, check out their website, if you ever wanted to go into space, you can save up and go now!
